Batik Artist
I graduated with a degree in sculpture in 1992 and a Higher Diploma in Teaching in 2006 from The Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork. While teaching I discovered a new-found passion for Batik Art and made the decision to pursue a career as a full time artist. I look to nature for inspiration, which surrounds my studio, based at the foot hills of the Ballyhoura Mountains in North Cork. I have always been interested in organic forms and the texture of natural objects. I especially love the vibrant colours in nature and I always try to replicate this in my work. The style of Batik lends itself to a freer method of application, but I like clean edges, so my work is a bit more controlled. My work is also commission based so if you would like something special you can let me know.
